NEW DELHI, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) — At least six persons were injured when suspected militants threw a grenade at a busy market area in Indian-controlled Kashmir’s summer capital of Srinagar on Sunday, confirmed a local cop over phone.
The incident occurred at the Sunday Market area near the tourist reception center.
The identity of the injured has not been ascertained yet.
The injured persons were rushed to a local hospital for medical treatment, according to the latest reports.
The suspected militants who carried out the grenade attack managed to escape from the scene. Efforts were being made by the local police and other security personnel to trace and nab them.
In the recent past, there has been an increase in militant attacks in the region. ■
